Downtown Charleston holds a special place in my heart, so when Spencer and Tyler chose it as the backdrop for their engagement session, I knew it would be something truly special. With their wedding quickly approaching in Spring 2025, this session was the perfect opportunity to capture unforgettable memories while giving them time to practice posing and feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Historic Charm at the Iconic Mills House
We kicked things off at one of my favorite spots—the Mills House. If you’ve ever wandered downtown Charleston, you know the Mills House is famous for its stunning pink wall. This backdrop always adds a touch of elegance and charm to every session. Right as we started, a horse-drawn carriage passed by, and I couldn’t help but smile. The horses always seem to acknowledge the couples during these moments, adding something special to the day. It’s like they want to be a part of the love story too!
Walking the Fabulous Streets of Charleston
After capturing stunning portraits at the Mills House, we wandered down Chalmers Street, one of Charleston’s iconic cobblestone roads. This historic street has such a unique charm, offering a glimpse into the past with its timeless beauty. Spencer and Tyler were excited to explore, and as we walked, the soft golden light created the perfect atmosphere for beautiful portraits.
Next, we headed to Meeting Street, known for its grand Southern architecture and stately charm. Each turn offered another picturesque backdrop, making the experience feel effortlessly romantic. Watching Spencer and Tyler hold hands, share quiet smiles, and laugh together reminded me of why I love engagement sessions so much. It’s not just about the photos—it’s about celebrating love and the moments that make it special.
Sunset at Shem Creek
After wrapping up in downtown Charleston, we made the quick drive over to Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant. Shem Creek never disappoints, especially during sunset, when the last golden rays of sun bounce off the water. This location holds special significance for Spencer and Tyler, as it’s where their love story began.
Spencer and Tyler moved effortlessly together, with the creek’s peaceful waters and Charleston’s famous shrimp boats in the background. There’s something about Shem Creek at sunset that brings out the best in every couple. Knowing the significance of this location made each shot feel that much more special.
Looking Forward to Their Wedding Day
It was a magical evening from start to finish, and I left feeling excited for their wedding day. Spencer and Tyler’s engagement session was a true reflection of their love for each other and the beautiful city of Charleston. Whether we were wandering downtown streets or watching the sun set at Shem Creek, every moment felt meaningful.
